Why do I need to change my filter regularly?

Regular filter replacement helps your heating and cooling system operate at peak levels, it also improves indoor air quality. It is important to change filters regularly to ensure proper air flow and to keep your home free from dust, allergens and germs.

How often should I replace my filter?

In general, Absolutely Cool Services recommends that you replace your disposable filters at least once a month. If you have washable filters, they should be cleaned once a month. If you are out of filters, just contact us so we can order the correct size filter for your unit.

In addition to changing filters, what maintenance should I do on my A/C?

Most maintenance should be performed by a qualified service technician. But here are some things that you can do to assure optimal performance.

  • Keep condenser unit clear of debris, clutter and weeds; they can reduce the airflow to the unit.
  • Use caution with weed trimmers around the condenser to prevent damaging control wiring.
  • Keep pets away from the unit; pet urine can cause expensive damage.

 

How often should I have maintenance done on my A/C?

You should have maintenance done on you’re A/C at least once a year. ACS recommends twice a year (every six months) to ensure maximum efficiency. It enables us to foresee any possible problems that may occur in the near future.

Is there anything I should check prior to calling for service?

Check to make sure that the air conditioner is turned on. Check that the breakers and disconnects are turned on and be sure the thermostat is set correctly.

What are some ways to help keep my home cooler in the summer?

  • Ceiling fans can help circulate and even-out the cool air inside the home.
  • Move lamps, televisions and other warm appliances away from your thermostat.

What does “SEER” mean?

SEER is an acronym for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, and is a measure of the performance of the system. The higher the SEER, the better the efficiency. The lower the SEER rating allowed is 13, and some manufactures produce units with SEER rating of more than 20. The more efficient system, however, the higher the cost.

Should I be concerned about indoor air quality?

Should I have new air ducts installed?
